Dutch Punter

This is my second build and, having cut my teeth with stitch and glue, I decided to go for this Selway Fisher ply over frame design. I really like the dutch punters and this design has the bonus that most of the elements for the hull can be built on the workbench and stored until assembly. The construction plans were a little daunting to begin with but became much more clear whilst building a model. Although it uses ply and softwood frames, it still keeps its traditional workboat look. Role on the warmer boat building weather!

Re: Dutch Punter

Hej Anders,

No, I have three or four battens to glue and three pieces of ply for the thwarts. But, I need 2 or 3 days where the night temperature does not fall below 7 or 8 deg. Am still waiting for that to happen. I need it to be warmer anyway because I will then have to paint it.

It will be nice to get the Rhum out of the shelter so that I can start on the Punter. I'm looking forward to doing the frames, girders, leeboards and rudder but a bit nervous about the planking. There's not much in the way of fit out. It could be a quick build but if the weather is nice, I hope to use the Rhum and do some fishing. Instead I bet we get the usual, nice days Mon - Fri and then wet weekends :-)

I'll take pics of the elements and post them here, yes. Hanging the leeboards will be fun!

cheers
