Paulie,
The first 'English Raid' was last year and took a gentle trollop mostly round the West end of the Solent, with hoardes of rescue boats, food and dry sox, laid on. I agree with Brian, fees were a lot more than I can reasonably afford for a week on the water. It was apparently attended by a number of larger open boats of the type to have done other raids before, but also catered to a substantial bevy of small dinghies like the Keyhaven Scow and such.
With a nod towards the DCA umbrella, Cliff Martin (in his Mirror Dinghy) and I did our own 'Five Harbours' cruise and took in something more like the planned itinerary for this year's English Raid, but starting our end of the Solent: Emsworth to Eling to Hurst to Newport to Fareham back to Emsworth.
I wore a life jacket when I remembered, brought my own food, kept my sox in a plastic bag and paid out perhaps twenty pounds in mooring fees. We're hoping to do the same thing again this year and there will almost certainly be enough sea for anybody who happens to be around at the time
