Now that the Thames Raid is over and Sir Ben Ainslie has been knocked out of the America Cup (should have stuck to cookery) there's nothing for it than to enjoy R2AK17.
The first leg, a short 40 mile hop from Pt Townsend to Victoria saw flat calms followed by 30-40mph winds sending lots of boats running for cover.
Everyone made it in and stage 2 The 710 mile haul to Alaska begins tomorrow. As well as the usual big cats and tri's there are the usual bunch of nutters in Kayaks, Angus Rowboats Hobie Venture Islanders and two blokes on SUPs.
Bonkers.
