Re: Coot now insurance

All,

It floated!

I also renewed my car insurance.  They don't cover the boat whilst towing but do cover the car if towing.  Does boat insurance cover the car during towing?

Agree with Graham, that's beautiful wood and you've done some very fine carpentry and you should show it off! You could consider an oil finish for the interior.

Brilliant James, she looks great, almost too nice to paint. Look forward to seeing her on the water.

Re: Coot now insurance

Hi James,
Congratulations on getting her afloat she really is sublime.

I've got my Coot insured with http://www.craftinsure.com/

Its covered for;
"Whilst ashore or in transit or afloat on inland and coastal waters of the United Kingdom and Ireland, and for a period not exceeding 30 days in any one period of insurance in Europe."

Which appears to mean, sitting on its trailer, being towed, and sailing on inland and coastal waters, I'm also allowed to take it to Europe for its holidays.

I have an agreed valuation in the event of total loss which I put at £3000.
The policy also covers Public Liability Insurance up to £3 million, which is often required by some authorities e.g. The Broads.

The policy doesn't cover the car.

The premium is around £50 per year.
You can do the whole thing on line, and they seem quite happy with home-builds and designs they haven't heard of before.

Others may know of alternatives.
Cheers Graham.

Re: Coot now insurance

Hi, i am also insured with craftinsure and two years ago after my accident on the M6 in Staffordshire, they paid for re-patriation of the boat back to Cumbria, repair of the trailer and the boat repairs.
It was pay up front with a credit card and claim it all back when finished (less the excess). They where very helpful and understanding throughout.
Regards
John
