The next build in line is the Scam Pram -Jim Michalak's slot top birdwatcher. It strikes me as an ideal design for the conditions I sail in and the self righting features and water ballast make it an ideal boat to use as a photo platform.
Jim sent the plans over last year and I built a cardboard model over Christmas.
I am going to attempt to build this boat entirely from reclaimed timber. However, I may have to source new ply as the supply of quality ply at the Newcastle Timer Salvage is limited at the best of times and the Scram pram needs about 15 sheets of the stuff. Cedar Shingles are quite common at the yard, especially offcuts - they use them for forest lodges etc and will make handy fillet logs.
