Thames Tummy 2012

This post was updated on .
Graham went down with Thames Tummy on Thursday and myself last night - we'll spare you the details but it was grim.

Personally I would like to thank, in no particular order, Graham, Chris W, John L and others who helped me through the rough patch this morning and later helped me load MilliBee for towing.

Thanks also to the older DCA couple who kindly gave me some orange juice for the trip home.

A special mention goes to John and his good wife Lorraine who followed me home from their house to make sure I got home safely. What a kind and helpful couple - thank you both very much.

-Paul

PS: We all need to be careful about river water hygiene on future Thames trips. The Thames Canoe Association claim it only takes 2mm of rain for the overflows to pour raw sewage into the river.

Re: Thames Tummy 2012

"Thames Tummy" eh?

Every time I saw you yesterday, Paul, you had a pint of the rather good West Berkshire Brewery stuff in your hand, might it not just be remotely possible that this might have been a contributory factor?

RE: Thames Tummy 2012

Jerremy         Back in the day, It was not unknown for me to be occasionally  associated with self inflicted, alcohol fuelled projectile vomiting and associated rectal explosions and hence I feel I am well equipped to draw judgement  .  The condition that Paul was in this morning and for most of the day was a totally different scenario. ( Incidentally, Graham had not even reached Beal when he was afflicted).  If I had even suspected alcoholic self infliction I for one would have told Paul  to " `bollocks and get on with it !!" , rather than have chipped in with my little bit of support.  Had you actually been there with  Paul when he virtually collapsed for the second time I hope you would have had a different perspective on "Contributory Factors" and "Thames Tummy".    eh??

Just a little attempt at humour, John, no offence intended..............

RE: Thames Tummy 2012

I stood on the scales this morning and I seem to have lost about 4 lbs last week.

Don't worry I know exactly where I left them.

Seriously, the Thames seems to be a bit notorious especially when there have been heavy rains, and the drains start to flood, so extra hygiene precautions are probably worth while.

I stood on the scales and I've lost half a stone - currently surviving on flat coke and scraps of bread.

Any other food has a risky escape strategy.
