Useful Power tool - cheap!

I recently bought one of these multi-purpose power tools in my local Lidl shop (in France).  I now see they are on offer in UK Lidl branches at £29.99 - about £4 cheaper than the euro price I paid for mine.

Parkside multi purpose power tool

It is an excellent tool for cutting shapes in panels, which is all I've used mine for at the moment.  The cut can be made very accurately and requires almost no finishing afterwards.  I have just cut a perfect oval shape in 16mm mdf, making very little dust.  The edge of the cut is so clean, a brief swish with a piece of sandpaper is hardly even needed.

It will also cut wood, pipes, metal sheet and rods, apparently, though I haven't tried, and it comes with the triangular sanding head and a number of sheets of various grades of abrasive paper. It appears to be of excellent quality, and it's guaranteed 3 years!

I had been considering a Bosch tool that does the same job for about 99 euros.  Why spend that much?

Re: Useful Power tool - cheap!

Hi Patrick,

I bought one of the Bosch ones on Boxing day when Homebase had 25% off.  This was still too expensive really - still more than twice the Lidl price - and I now wish I had known Parkside were going to do one.  I've not had need to use it yet, but playing with it, it seems a good and useful tool.  Other blades are available from various sources on the internet.  I bought some via eBay (new).  One thing to watch for is the offset, some blades don't have any which means the attachment bolt will stick out of the bottom.  This may or may not matter, depending on what the blade is to be used for.
