Voyaging with a Hobie Drive

Thought these two articles on using the Hobie Drive in a Paul Gartside design might be useful for members to read.

Re: Voyaging with a Hobie Drive

Thanks Brian

Not encountered any of those maintenance issues yet, but useful to be warned of them though mine is a Mk II unit so less prone to some of the problems he described.

Looks like quite a big boat he's pushing along. Lke the sliding hatch he seems to have. Will have to find out more about that design.

Nice blog, inspires me for trips this summer.

Tim.

Re: Voyaging with a Hobie Drive

Hi Tim

I think it's this one, converted from propeller drive to Mirage Drive.

There is a article of one being built with a Mirage Drive. http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/11/projects/blueskies/index.htm

Re: Voyaging with a Hobie Drive

That looks right, I tracked down his blog about building her. I'm constantly impressed by the vapability of the Mirage Drive.

I blinked and had to read that again.

For a moment I thought it said - the ability of the Mirage Drive to vapourise itself.
