Trying to sail on rivers can be problematic, but it is good to take advantage of the breeze when it does go your way. ... there are two or more boats in close proximity and heading in the same general direction, its a bloody race. There is a world of difference between The Perfect River Raid Boat, and The Perfect Go Anywhere do Anything and Still Fit in your Garage Boat. You Chooses you Parameters and You Gets Constrained by Them. God, or SlartiBartfast made Rivers flow downhill for a reason, ignore him and ye shall incur his ridicule. Cobnor!

... "dory sections" of CW's boats. Well, my project is not a "Perfect River Raid Boat", so I stop hijacking this thread But, to go back to the subject, an evolution (IE Octavia sized) of the Winsome, or a mongrel of your boat, John, and Octavia could be a PRRB, IMO... I perfectly understant 1/ you want to build your new boat, and 2/ a "simpler to build" one (= without hot water and spread eagle torture ...)! Eric

... wasn't right on the nose. I have seen them (you know who you are!) getting really depressed about this. As John Cleese's headmaster character put it in Clockwise, when the pupil told him not to despair: "I can stand the despair. It's the hope." I have come to the initial, preliminary and provisional conclusion that the ideal river raid boat is this:

Perhaps I should have said "my" rather than "the" most perfect RRB. Just a few reasons why she caught my eye so strongly. Gilles Montaubin has been designing boats for 30 years, and he keeps designing ones that perform very well in Raids. Different model, different Raids, yet his designs...
