Confessions of a Serial Boat Builder.

Its been a while since my last confession.

A couple or three months ago I sold the Coot.

She rolled off behind her new owners car, wagging her transom heading for Dittisham on The Dart.
Did she phone? Did she write? Did she hell.

Now a fortuitous (for them) change of direction for the family has resulted in yours truly, as part Silver-Back and part Dog's-Body spending rather a lot of time on the end of an emulsion roller and rather too little time in the research lab converting Katie Beardie into the sleek trimaran she truly longs to be.

While I was having so much fun turning the whole world Magnolia the calender quietly flipped over to August which as every skool boy knows is Cobnor month. I was running the risk of having no suitable boat with which to enjoy the fortnight of fun, frivolity, carousing and general merry-making which is the Dinghy Cruising Association Camp on Cobnor Point, Chichester Harbour.
Drastic action was required.
I had been keeping an eye out for something suitable as an in-betweener until I get some of my projects out of the way and can build my next "Proper Boat" and spotted this;

So Dear Reader,  I bought it !
A little wooden Heron with crisp new sails and a decent galvanised piggy back trailer. It even came with a Chichester harbour License as it was previously owned by a DCA member.
This is the first boat I've ever actually bought, which seems bit strange.

There are a couple of minor things needing fettled which I may be seeking advice on but that can wait.
So who else is heading for Cobnor?

Grum.

Yours truly with MilliBee, now aged 10 I reckon. A mere youngster compared to a lovely classic Heron.

She will have several upgrades though, most of them working also.

I have very fond memories of sailing a Heron in and around the Dartmouth estuary back in the 1970s. A deceptively spacious and capable boat. Enjoy!

Tim.

It would be nigh on possible to camp in that one, Grum

(Who was it put the 'Hero' in Heron?)

See you at Cobnor

Re: Confessions of a Serial Boat Builder.

Well, from one serial boat builder to another, See you at Cobnor. I might bring my plans with me or not.
Nice boat Graham.
