Invitation: OCSG Meet at Barton Turf 29-31 July 2011

This post was updated on .
Anyone who has attended a Home Built Boat Rally at Barton Broad will be familiar with Simon and Sheila Fishwick's outstanding site, the Barton Turf Adventure Centre (and with their fine hospitality).  For those who are not familiar with the venue or this outstanding Broad, please see the HBBR 2011 thread here, at my blog of the 2010 rally here, or look at the 2010 photos here, here and here.

Sadly, I was unable to attend this year's HBBR Rally, but here's an invitation to the next best thing: the Open Canoe Sailing Group (OCSG)is going to be based at the same location from 29th - 31st July, 2011... and HBBR guests would be welcome to join us!

The Open Canoe Sailing Group is a VERY open group, and with varied backgrounds / tastes in boats.  At this meet, we're expecting Wayne with his "Cream of Manchester": a dedicated sailing canoe...

That's about as fine a looking sailing canoe as any I've ever seen, but others will be present with small "expedition" rigs on mass-produced open canoes:

A sailing canoe is not a pre-requisite for turning up: I'm already aware of one paddler who's coming to take his open canoe out and just see what all the fuss is about - though we can almost certainly work out a way of getting anyone keen out on the water to give canoe sailing a try so long as we know you're coming!

This is a great opportunity to meet with enthusiasts at a wonderful venue: please let me know if you're interested!

Too true!

When I attended their Broads event in 2006 (at Hickling) I turned up in my SeaHawk! (a 17ft GRP yacht!) The evidence is on the old Yahoo HBBR site (Files section).
