Has anyone with previous experience of the London boatshow got any top tips to pass on (especially about getting there, but also on top stands for anyone with HBBR interests)?
Also: has anyone got a top tip on getting discounted tickets? At some point in the last few days I've seen an offer code from an Exhibitor: it allowed entry for £10 or so... but I can't recall where I came across it :( |

The posting on the Open Canoe Sailing Group mentioned getting in for £10. Use code OA18 http://www.theoutdoorsshow.co.uk/

That was the offer I'd seen! Thanks Brian. Anyone else going? Any experiences of the parking / access by rail? |

AFAIK there's only the Boat Show until wednesday 12th (check!)
Onsite parking is good but expensive, £10 for 5 hours. If you're coming by public transport, use the DLR to Prince Regent NOT Custom House. (Excel has been expanded and the Boat Show is down the new end) See http://www.londonboatshow.com/2011/show_information/travel_information.aspx The best stand is D82 (Amateur Yacht Research Society) or it will be when we finish building it! ![]() See you there (not ?Wed tho') ![]() Simon |

The advertised dates are 7th-16th January... The obvious days to visit are 13th-16th as tickets also allow access to the Outdoors Show AND the London Bike Show. Thanks for the other information! Diss to Stratford and then onto the tube and DLR seems to be an option for ~£40: time to car share with friends! Ps. Seems that anyone not used to London needs to spend an hour or two working out something called an "Oyster Card" to get affordable London travel these days: there and back off-peak singles in Zone 3 for £2.80 instead of £8.00 (or £10 for a Zone 3 travelcard) - called fleecing the outsider, methinks. |

I am
all for fleecing the outsider. How else could London afford to make travel
entirely free for me?? Smug Tony

Yes, I
certainly have mine (and the heating allowance).
I
liked the blog (I didn't think they were as good as us).
I
heard a terrible joke yesterday : "which came first, the the Scotchman or the
Scotchegg". Answers on a postcard................

T Well, as a Scotchman is a figment of an illiterate Englishman's imagination, it must be the Scotchegg. I am no connesseur of boat shows having only ever been to one(Southampton 2000)
If that was typical,I have to say that,IMO,you could go up just about any creek in Britain and see larger numbers of interesting boats than you would at a boat show. |
