Re: Reactive resins UKHBBR discount code.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade or appear ungrateful. ..but that passcode can be read by millions of people, especially if search bots that trawl the web 24/7 pickup the scent.

Just trying to be practical.

Maybe we could bury it in an area that only a few hundred members could read. Aka members only, which might create even more interest!

Re: Reactive resins UKHBBR discount code.

Hi Steve,
Well done for arranging the discount.  Has anyone ever used Reactive Resin in earnest, it would be good to have some customer feedback.

Paul I doubt if having the code on display will cause any problems for RR. No Robots etc. could use the code without actually spending real money on the WEB site, and I'm sure the discount is factored into the promotion budget.
Its all about maximum penetration you know.

Anyway why would a Robot be building a Boat?

Just imagine - a brain the size of a planet and your job is a lift operator. Robots need a hobby too.

Hi, hope the code is of use to you all. Thanks for your interest in our products. We supply various boat yards and chandleries with our products and the resin in particular is very well received as there's no amine blush. With regards to feedback etc, we have recently started supplying a boat builder who talks about our resin in his blog below which is really useful.

Please ask if you have any questions etc. Thanks ~ Lindsay, Reactive Resins

I've used Reactive Resins EPAFD grade for several small boat maintenance jobs and for epoxy coating our garden gate then most recently on the new rowing boat discussed here in another thread. I have had no problems with it.

In times past I have had some very frustrating problems which I think were attributable to amine blush, so I would say that any epoxy resin that avoids that is worth considering.

Re: Reactive resins UKHBBR discount code.

I used Syntac EPAFD  it to build "Quackers", the epoxy-glass foam sandwich Duck Punt that I entered in the Cordless Canoe Challenge a few years ago.  The build of that boat is documented here somewhere.

I had no real problems using it and my only observations are that it seems to be very slightly thicker than West 105 and takes a fair bit longer to cure than West 105 when used with 205 hardener.  Mind you, I was working right at the lower temperature margin for the resin, and that may well have influenced my experience.

Edited to add:

I've found the build thread here: http://uk-hbbr-forum.967333.n3.nabble.com/A-Duck-Punt-for-the-Cordless-Canoe-Challenge-td3777357.html

I regret to say I wasn't always wholly complimentary about the resin it seems...................

Re: Reactive resins UKHBBR discount code.

Jeremy, thank you for your comments. You are correct in saying that the resin would be slower curing in the lower temperatures. Since your order, we now offer slow, fast and rapid hardeners as options to pair with either our low viscosity, medium viscosity and high viscosity resin depending on the application. The rapid hardener is incredibly fast and would only really be recommended for small repairs etc as the pot life is around 10 - 15 minutes. We offer the low viscosity packs, which come with resin and hardener - or you can select the resin and hardener seperately if you'd prefer to mix and match viscosity and speed. Hope this helps ~ Lindsay
