Wow, there was a huge Viking long boat parked in a house near to us (Gloucestershire).

Wooden boat on trailer with rubber tyres... OK! Trailer hitched to car with rubber tyres... OK! Man with rubber shoes touches car and/or trailer... possibly OK, but sounds like they weren't live, so he was lucky.
Very embarrassing though... they captured that in his look in the picture! Farmer not far from us in France took out every power line and every phone/broadband line over 10km of road through two villages and another hamlet. Had a piece of farm machinery with some sort of boom raised on a trailer behind a monstrous tractor. Was completely oblivious of the carnage he was leaving behind him. He was also very lucky the machinery on the trailer had rubber tyres as well as the trailer and tractor. They never actually became live. |

Mast no 2 ready and in position. Leather gaiter stitched in place.
I think I'll take the opportunity to turn her over and paint her bottom again without letting the hull fall on my shoulder !!! ![]() I had to enlarge the mast hole a little as the new one is slightly larger in diameter. The drum sander works a treat. Richard |

Looks good ...
Many years ago at my sailing club 3 miles from Barton Broad, helm and crew of Enterprise dinghy have argument in car park.. One leaps in car drives off... Car and trailer just gets onto road and the mast of the Enterprise hits a telephone wire.. Enterprise is deposited in middle of road as it hadn't been tied down ... Which was I suppose cheaper than paying BT to replace the telephone line.. |

Winter jobs , both boat and trailer. The trailer will undergo a slight mod to the supports as well as greasing ( this I do every year to all my trailers ).
I have just tuned the boat over and put her on trestles , this time I didn't injure myself. Lifted the boat with cargo strops and it slid around and over. ( pictures below ) ![]() ![]() ![]() The staining came from one week in Barton Broad. Well - washed this off with sugar soap over winter give it a couple of coats of Epifanes and be ready to go in the new year. The trailer , I have decided to change the boat supports. I didn't like the lack of vertical adjustment so will change the brackets to enable infinite vertical adjustment , also putting in another keel roller which means a new cross member, I just happen to have a handy piece of stainless angle that will do nicely, cut off a 3ft length . Enough to keep me busy. Richard |

Just remodelling the trailer, a few alterations to support rollers, two more keel rollers, adjusted mudguards, they are too near the hull, and I didn't like the roller adjustments so I am trying different means of adjustable rollers. It will keep me busy for a bit anyway.

Trailer finished, new rubber rollers in different positions, 1 more keel roller and 1 more set of side support rollers - all greased up. The boat has had a good few coats of paint and more varnish. I shall be glad to put her on the water again !
